This past month I have been super busy with my sewing machine in an effort to turn some old unwanted fabric, wool and wooden beads into some beautiful crafts.
I shall of course be continuing with this project long after making this post, as I am up to my armpits in fabric, but I wanted to share with you what I have created so far. Near where I live is a wonderful shop called The Scrap Store where you can fill a bin bag full of old bits and bobs for only £7. It’s a magical place.
It’s amazing how much people don’t use thinking it to be useless, when actually there is so much you can do with a bit of scrap!
The first up-cycling project I chose to do was a very simple one, using wool, and old necklace of wooden beads, and some key-ring loops. I scoured Pinterest for some ideas until I found the perfect thing to do with these beads – key-rings! And they turned out just wonderfully.
I plan on selling them at some point, once I have enough stock to go online with my crafts!
Next I took on the task of making a scarf – something I hadn’t done before and was sort of winging. I didn’t really know where to find any helpful information and simply decided to fly by the seat of my pants! But regardless my grey scarf with tassels turned out beautifully and it’s so soft!
And finally I made the cute little make up bad you can see in the top picture, from a template found in the marvellous book I got for Christmas, full of awesome easy projects. It was really easy to make and I have to say I’m very proud of myself – it looks great! I use it for make up brushes and powder but it could easily be used for anything that will fit!
